These graters have an earthy organic feel that is so beautiful and timeless. This comes from a technique called Kohiki, where a white slip is layered on the dark clay before firing. This gives the finished glaze a layered color of white, grey, and a pinkish hue called Gohonte. Substantial in weight, these can easily be gripped while grating.
~ 4 1/2" W x 5 3/8" L (including the handle and lip) 5/8" H.
Recommend to hand wash. This Absorbs moisture easily. Therefore, dry well immediately after washing.
Please note: Japanese pottery sometimes has a technique called "crazing," which intentionally adds hairline cracks to the shiny top coat of the glaze. Crazing is not a defect. These have a slight amount of crazing.
